On the weekend I was discussing the campaign with my missus and her brother Dave, who just happened to be around on Sunday night.
Now Dave has never done any wargaming or rpging before and he was showing a bit of interest in how the campaign was going. After a while, being the nerd that he is, he decided to get on the internet, rather than to continue to talk to Amanda and I, to check it out for himself.
Fast forward an hour and about six beers where we talked generally about wargaming and rpging and Dave asked a fairly pointed question about what can a player do?
And you know I didn’t just have a nice simple answer for him. It consisted of things like you can move and shoot and you know, do other stuff.
So clearly this is not a very satisfactory answer and simply throwing a noob a copy of the rules isn’t going to help anyone, especially when the noob has no background in wargaming or rpging.
And, you know, Dave was showing a bit of interest and I think he wants to be a character to help us out because I’m not really looking after his sister that well and I think he wants to bring his dog Codie into the game as well. So I figured I’d knock up a simple index card to provide a new player with a menu of actions they can take in any one activation together with some page reference page numbers so that they can look them up themselves should they find the energy at some stage.
And so I present the Players Guide to All Things Zombie. It’s simply a list of actions that a player can take and that you, as the DM or GM, can help them with the details.
And an advanced version for those who want to know a little more.
There you go Dave, you can do any of those things mate. Hopefully that’s removed a little of the mystery for you.
Just copy the image, resize it and print it out.
Now, by the way, if any of your out there have spotted any errors or omissions, please get back to me and I’ll give em a little tune up.
